If your dishwasher doesn’t drain properly, or you notice standing water in the bottom of the dishwasher, there may be an easy fix. Check to see if your garbage disposal is clogged. Clear the disposal and run another cleaning cycle.
If this does not fix the problem, one of the following may be to blame:
- Broken Drain Impeller
- Defective Drain Pump
- Failed Drain Solenoid Kit
- Clogged Drain Valve
A dishwasher that doesn’t clean dishes properly is virtually useless. One simple solution is to check for clogs. If the spray arm holes are clogged, your dishes won’t get the proper rinsing needed to clean them. You can use an unfolded paperclip to unclog the holes.
If unclogging the spray arm holes doesn’t solve the issue, your dishwasher repair technician may diagnose one of the following:
- Defective Water Inlet Valve
- Worn Out Water Pump Belt
- Defective Circulation Pump
- Broken Pump Impeller
Although it may seem silly, check to make sure that your dishwasher door is fully latched if you notice your dishwasher won’t start. If the door isn’t completely closed, the machine won’t start – this is a good thing. Nobody wants suds all over their kitchen floor!
If the door is indeed fully closed and your dishwasher still won’t start, our Chicago dishwasher repair technicians may diagnose one of the following:
- Defective Door Switch
- Blown Thermal Fuse
- Broken Door Latch
- Main Control Board Issue
